Welcome to Buddha View Hostel. Our goal is to provide every guest with a comfortable, safe, and welcoming stay on Koh Tao. As a modern, eco-conscious hostel just 300 meters from the pier, we take pride in offering reliable service, sustainable practices, and a relaxed atmosphere for travelers from around the world.

Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about our privacy policy, house rules, and cancellation terms to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Privacy & Data Protection

We take your privacy seriously. When you book or stay with us, we may collect personal details such as your name, contact information, nationality, passport or Thai ID (as required by law), and any preferences related to your stay. Our website may also collect technical data (e.g., IP address, browser type, and usage statistics) via cookies.

We use this information only to:

  • Confirm and manage your reservation

  • Meet legal and immigration requirements

  • Communicate with you about your stay

  • Improve our services and website performance

  • Send occasional promotions (only with your consent)

Your personal data is stored securely and accessed only by authorized staff. We never sell or share your information for marketing purposes. ID documents are used strictly for official guest registration and are not shared externally.

If you book through a third-party platform such as Booking.com or Hostelworld, please refer to their respective privacy policies. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Guests from regions like the EU may request access to or deletion of their personal data at any time.

House Rules

To help maintain a peaceful and respectful environment, please follow these house guidelines:

Check-In / Check-Out

  • Check-in: 14:00

  • Check-out: 11:00

  • Early check-in or late check-out is subject to availability and may incur a small fee.

Identification

  • A valid passport or Thai ID is required at check-in.

  • Minimum age for check-in is 18, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Quiet Hours

  • Please keep noise to a minimum between 22:00 and 08:00 to respect other guests.

Smoking & Alcohol

  • Smoking is not allowed indoors. Designated smoking areas are available outside.

  • Alcohol may be consumed responsibly in communal areas, but is not permitted in dormitory rooms.

Food & Beverages

  • Food and drinks are not allowed in dorm rooms.

  • Please use the designated seating areas for meals or snacks and help keep the space clean for others.

Visitors

  • Visitors are welcome in common areas until 22:00.

  • Only registered guests are allowed in sleeping areas.

Toilets

  • Please do not dispose of toilet paper or sanitary products in the toilets.

  • Thai-style bathrooms are equipped with water spray hoses; waste bins are provided for tissue disposal. This helps prevent plumbing issues and supports our eco-friendly systems.

Security & Valuables

  • Lockers are available in shared rooms for your belongings.

  • The hostel is not responsible for lost or stolen items—please secure valuables appropriately.

Housekeeping

  • All rooms are cleaned daily.

  • Private rooms: Linens are changed every 2 days.

  • Dorm rooms: Linens are changed every 3 days or upon request.

  • Fresh towels and extra cleaning are available at the front desk.

Sustainability

  • We operate using solar energy and a backup generator, and we source water from filtered rainwater and underground supplies.

  • Please help us conserve electricity and water—your cooperation supports sustainable island living.

Damage & Behavior

  • Guests are responsible for any damage to hostel property.

  • Disruptive, aggressive, or illegal behavior may result in immediate removal without refund.

Cancellation & No-Show Policy

We understand that plans change. Please review our cancellation terms:

For Individual Bookings

  • A 30% deposit is required to confirm your reservation and is non-refundable.

  • You may cancel up to 1 day (24 hours) before arrival without further charge.

  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before check-in will be charged 100% of the booking value.

For Group Bookings (3 or more rooms / 6+ guests)

  • A 30% non-refundable deposit is required.

  • Changes to the booking (number of guests or dates) must be made at least 7 days before arrival, subject to availability.

  • Changes made less than 7 days before arrival are not accepted, and full payment will be required.

No-Shows

  • If you do not arrive and have not contacted us in advance, the full booking amount will be charged.
